"DIA Director: Don't let an act of violence keep you from Detroit's Midtown" by Salvador Salort-Pons. Published Dec. 7, 2017 in the Detroit Free Press
Thanks to our partners at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the College for Creative Studies, the Detroit Historical Society and Detroit Historical Museum, the Detroit Public Library, the Michigan Science Center, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for standing together about Noel Night and the Midtown Detroit district. We also would like to thank Wayne State University and the Wayne State Police for their partnership on Noel Night, as well as their investment in the neighborhood. We know that many of the other participating Noel Night venues and businesses located in the district share the sentiment expressed in this op-ed and stand united that Midtown Detroit is an excellent place to live, work and visit. Equally important, we would like to thank everyone who has provided feedback on Noel Night and send our deepest apologies to all who were negatively impacted by the unfortunate events of the evening. We hope that you will come back soon and experience all that Midtown has to offer.
